- INVITATION
- The third international conference focusing on worldwide
- issues of research and academic networking--INET'93--is
- scheduled for August 17-20, 1993 in San Francisco,
- California, USA. University, industry and government
- representatives from around the world are invited to
- meet and discuss important issues related to planning,
- implementing, managing and funding national, regional,
- and international networks.
-
- Dear Colleague,
- As we began planning the INET'93 conference, we set as
- a goal to build upon the very successful INET'92
- conference held last year in Kobe and achieve a quantum
- leap in participation, breadth, impact and visibility.
- As the date for INET'93 approaches, we are hopeful that
- these objectives will be met.
-
- This year, we will meet in San Francisco. Beyond its
- reputation as one of the most charming cities in the
- world, it also happens to be located some 40 miles north
- of the heart of Silicon Valley, the birthplace of many
- organizations in the commercial, public and educational
- sectors who have helped pioneer the technologies and
- concepts on which the Internet is built and keeps
- growing today. INET'93 takes place at a time when the
- data networking industry is enjoying an unprecedented
- rate of expansion worldwide and when the new U.S.
- administration is beginning its work on the National
- Information Infrastructure. It would have been hard to
- host a technical conference centered on a more relevant
- topic to people's hopes and aspirations.
-
- I have been fortunate to benefit from the help and
- advice of a first-rate conference committee, including
- Program co-chairs Barry Leiner and William Yundt. Let me
- also acknowledge the group of Contributor or Sponsor
- organizations whose financial support have matched our
- ambitious growth objectives. I look forward to seeing
- some 1,000 or more of you in San Francisco in August for
- INET'93.
-
- Sincerely,
-
- Eric Benhamou
- General Conference Chair
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- Dear Internaut,
- It is with the greatest pleasure that I invite you to
- attend and participate in INET'93. This is the annual
- conference of the Internet Society and the planned
- program is fully-charged with content of international
- importance. As many of you are intensely aware, the
- exploding Internet community is a global phenomenon,
- brought about in large measure through the personal and
- collaborative efforts of thousands of people committed
- to making global computer networking a reality.
-
- The Conference General Chairman, Eric Benhamou, has
- organized a superb event. The Program Committee co-
- chairs, Barry Leiner and William Yundt, have led the
- development of a stimulating series of sessions and
- George Sadowsky has organized an outstanding special
- workshop for technologically-emerging countries vitally
- interested in the Internet.
-
- Please join us in San Francisco, meet your world-wide
- colleagues and rededicate yourselves to the proposition
- that the Internet and its technology should be available
- to all who desire it.
-
- Warmest regards,
- Vinton G. Cerf
- President, Internet Society
